The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, directed on Monday the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case of engineer Basheer, who passed away earlier this morning.
The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief stated in a press release received by “Baghdad network” platform:
“While we extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the citizen (Basheer Khalid Lateef), we affirm that this incident and what happened to the deceased will not pass without holding the negligent parties accountable and identifying the true causes that led to his death.”
He added:
“Accordingly, the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has directed the formation of a high-level investigative committee headed by the Deputy Minister of Interior for Police Affairs, the Deputy Head of the National Security Service, and a senior officer from the Iraqi National Intelligence Service to investigate all the circumstances of the case and provide a detailed report on what occurred from the beginning of the incident until the death of the late, may God have mercy on him.”
The statement continued:
“The results of the investigation will be made public once completed. We affirm that we will not tolerate anyone who dares to harm Iraqis or act outside legal frameworks, far from the principles of human rights and human dignity.”
