Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani announced on Sunday evening that Maysan Governorate will enter the field of petrochemical and fertilizer industries.
In a statement, Al-Sudani’s office said, “The Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, received a group of academics and members of professional and sectoral unions today, Sunday, during his visit to Maysan Governorate.”
He confirmed that “his visit to the governorate comes as part of the government’s attention to the service, industrial, and economic sectors in Maysan, as well as in all other governorates.”
The Prime Minister highlighted “the importance of the projects inaugurated during the visit, including the launch of the expansion work at the Maysan Refinery, which will have the highest refining capacity after the Baiji Refinery upon completion of its second expansion phase. This will contribute to increasing revenues, providing various petroleum products, and creating job opportunities, turning Maysan into an oil and industrial governorate.”
Al-Sudani further explained that “Maysan will enter the petrochemical and fertilizer industries after the expansion of the Maysan Refinery and the completion of the Maysan Investment Refinery. This aligns with the government’s plans for optimal investment in oil and gas resources.” He emphasized that “the governorate has a promising future in the oil and industrial sectors, in addition to the upcoming launch of water complex projects in districts and sub-districts.”
