Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani discussed several key issues, including the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, in a phone call with U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz on Friday evening (March 21, 2025).

During the call, Prime Minister Barzani and National Security Advisor Waltz discussed ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the United States, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Media Office.

Both sides agreed on the need to expedite the formation of the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government. They also reaffirmed the importance of resuming Kurdistan Region’s oil exports as soon as possible.

In another part of the conversation, the two officials exchanged views on the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East. They emphasized the importance of maintaining the region’s security and stability, according to the statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Media Office.
