Arab Report Predicts an Upcoming Visit by an Iraqi Delegation to Syria

An Arab news report revealed today, Wednesday, that an Iraqi security delegation is expected to visit the Syrian capital, Damascus, in the coming days to discuss sensitive security issues, including border security and combating remnants of ISIS.

According to the report published by “Al-Araby Al-Jadeed” in English, translated by “Baghdad Network,” “an Iraqi security delegation will visit Damascus in the coming days to discuss issues related to border security and the threat posed by ISIS.” The report noted that “the visit follows recent statements by Iraq’s Intelligence Chief, Hamid Al-Shatri.”

The report further explained that “the agenda of the Iraqi delegation includes securing the Iraqi-Syrian border, addressing threats from the terrorist organization, establishing direct security communication channels to enhance coordination, and handling the issue of ISIS detainees held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).”

It added that “the visit will be purely security-oriented and unrelated to political relations with the Syrian side.” Additionally, “coordination is ongoing to finalize the visit’s schedule and complete the technical requirements.”
