A security source in Dhi Qar province reported today, Friday, that a security force managed to capture a dangerous drug dealer who attempted to smuggle narcotics into the province for the first time.
The source stated that “under the supervision and follow-up of the Director General of Drug Control in Iraq, Major General Ahmed Al-Zurqani, a force affiliated with the Directorate of Drug Control in Dhi Qar carried out a special operation that led to the arrest of a drug dealer from Basra in the center of Nasiriyah, the provincial capital.”
The source explained that “the detainee attempted to smuggle the narcotic substance (marijuana) into the province for the first time and sell it to two individuals from Nasiriyah, who were also arrested during the operation.” He added that “the arrests were carried out in accordance with Article 28 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Law No. 50 of 2017.”
